The ACS Green Chemistry Institute is working with industry partners to form a new collaboration, the Natural Polymers Consortium. This group generated significant interest at the ACS Fall 2023 meeting in San Francisco during a multi-day technical session in collaboration with the POLY division, networking event, and meeting of interested parties.
After several discussions during these engagements opportunities the group’s vision has been delineated as “Material Science Innovations for a Circular Economy: Meeting the human needs while improving the integrity of the environment”; with the mission to “Catalyze the development and application of natural polymers in material science globally”.
The distinctive character of this collaboration within the ACS GCI industry portfolio is that membership will be composed of not only industry members but also NGOs, academic researchers, and government researchers. Currently, we are developing a letter of engagement to be signed by the different parties, while developing the business plan with those interested in becoming founding members.
If you are interested in making a difference to accelerate innovations in materials science, please contact Dr. Isamir Martinez or email gciroundatbles@acs.org.
