The Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) invites outstanding applications for a postdoctoral research associate to simulate mineral nucleation and aggregation reactions using atomic-scale and/or coarse-grained molecular simulations. As a postdoc, you will utilize high performance computing and rare event methods to work with a team of scientists in the CSD to model chemical reactions important for mineral nucleation, growth and oriented aggregation processes.  That mechanistic information will be incorporated into process-based models that can describe rates and locales of precipitation measured by experimentalists. The position resides in the Geochemistry and Interfacial Sciences Group in the Chemical Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).  (https://www.ornl.gov/group/gisg)

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The postdoc researcher will conduct research on a project funded by DOE ARPA-E on the characterization of and recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) in solid waste streams. This is a multi-institute and multi-investigator project, and the postdoc will have opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research involving aspects of geoscience, chemistry, and environmental engineering. There are also opportunities for participation in other research projects.
