Job-hunting chemists would do well to periodically check the careers section of jobsites of major oilfield service companies such as Halliburton Services, Schlumberger and Weatherford. A survey reported in the “Houston Chronicle” indicated that U.S. demand for oilfield chemicals will increase more than 8% annually from now until 2015. Demand is forecast at $13.6 billion in 2015. A major reason for the growth is increased demand for hydraulic fracturing chemicals. Annual demand growth for these chemicals is predicted to be nearly 10%.
