Our inaugural 50/60/70-year brunch on July 14th at Chris' Family Restaurant shone with pride for chemistry! Everyone that attended thanked the section for doing it. There was a lot of storytelling, laughter, and fun.  The only complaint heard was it was the first time happening, they wished we had done something like it before this! One attendee commented afterward by email: "Thank you and your colleagues for organizing the wonderful gathering of the local OLDIES of the ACS members. I enjoyed the conversation with several of them. I look forward to receiving the group photo and their email addresses. Wishing you all the best for a wonderful summer." Share the moment with these pictures of the event.

LVACS is saddened to report the Passing of Ned Duane Heindel, PhD., on June 27th, 2023, at age 85.
Ned was a 60+ year ACS member, Past ACS President (1994), Emeritus Professor at Lehigh University and a Shining Star of Chemistry to our local section and the world. Memorial plans by the section are being developed and will be reported here soon. Please contribute any remembrances of Ned's long and devoted service to LehighValleyACS@lvacs.org. He will be greatly missed. Morning Call obituary.

LVACS WOMEN CHEMISTS COMMITTEE HOSTS EVENT FEATURING HISTORIAN MICHELLE MART

THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 2023; 6-8 PM

On Thursday, June 29th, LVACS welcomes PSU Professor of History, Michelle Mart, PhD., author of "Pesticides, A Love Story: America's Enduring Embrace of Dangerous Chemicals" to the Violet Vintage Wine Company, 107 Shartlesville Rd, Bernville, PA 19506 for a special WCC event from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Michelle will give a short presentation and take questions. Come on out for an exposure to how chemistry is seen from a different perspective - interesting for all, not just WCC members.

It may have been thundering outside but our LVACS volunteers sure made the inside of Da Vinci Science Center rock with their enthusiasm for science! Curiosity and Amazement were definitely everywhere to be seen and heard with education about the Earth and its algae the ultimate winner. The Lehigh Valley ACS local section thanks you for taking the time out of your schedules to bring 'science to life and lives to science.' Avi the mole salutes you!

LVACS visited the Reading-Berks Science and Engineering Fair this week: what a great turn-out and enthusiasm from the MS and HS students! We have two sponsored awards this year: best chemistry-oriented physical science project poster for grades 6-8 and to the 1st prize award winner in the senior high chemistry category. Let's see who's in the spotlight tomorrow evening, March 16th, at Albright's Bollman gym!
