They look at the data they have collected to see if it supports or contradicts their theory.

Scientists decide if the hypothesis is supported or not based on the results of the research.

Theory or Law? If many tests show that the hypothesis is true, it may become a theory (a well-supported explanation) or a law (a mathematical description of a pattern).

Publication and Review: Scientists write up their results and put them in scientific journals so that other experts can look at them and see if they make sense.
