A teacher in Africa is looking for a precipitate chemistry lab

A teacher in Africa is looking for a precipitate chemistry lab that can be done with extremely limited household materials because her school's chemicals have been “stuck in Ethiopia.” Any ideas that I can share with her?

I might try putting an iron nail in some water until it turns orange which indicates iron (III) ions are in solution. Filter the solution so it is clear (filter out any insoluble rust particles). Then add some sodium carbonate (dissolved in water) if I had that available or dilute lye (if I could get it).   You might also try adding a solution of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to the iron solution and see if that makes a precipitate!
