The Wilson Dam Section of the ACS was established in 1937 with the purpose of encouraging the advancement of chemistry in all of its branches; improving the qualifications and usefulness of chemical professionals through high standards of ethics, education, and attainments; promoting educational programs which further growth and development in chemistry; and promoting scientific interests and inquiry by its meetings, exhibitions, lectures, discussions, publications, and professional contacts.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Sharifa Love-Rutledge to UNA next Tuesday, March 15. Dr. Sharifa Love-Rutledge is an assistant professor in the chemistry department at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and studies diabetes, insulin resistance, and aging. In 2021, Dr. Love-Rutledge was named by Cell Mentor as one of 1,000 Inspiring Black Scientists in America. She is also the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. from The University of Alabama Department of Chemistry.
