Research and Special Interests: I have been 30+ years in kind of biotech that profits from the work of living cells or enzymes. I have a Ph.D. in microbial physiology, a minor in chemical engineering and the work history of a biochemical engineer. I have continuously improved my skills and efficiency through trainings and team experiences. I played various roles: basic researcher, principal investigator, inventor, lab manager, reactor designer, instrument engineer, line supervisor, wastewater engineer, marketer, consultant, and technical officer. Most of my experience is in onsite manufacturing at a three biotech based food ingredient companies (NutraSweet, Martek Biosciences, and DMV-International). They have depended on me being a highly independent and self-motivated individual who gets the support of others to get necessary things done. My activities include: Project Management, Large Scale Production, Research and Development, Wastewater Engineering, Process Development, and Documentation (Quality and Regulatory). I love the excitement of solving practical problems (those that are critical to ongoing success). My favorite problem is making the biochemical process or living cells behavior as intended. In this area I have developed special expertise in knowledge gathering, statistics (design and analysis) and in biochemical kinetics. Most of my prior work experience studied the effects of nutrition and reaction conditions on production of molecules such as fats in yeast, amino acids from E. coli and fats from algae. I have several publications about enzyme kinetics. The most interesting and potentially most useful research that I would like to do is to explore the possibility of other elements outside the periodic table other than positronium.
