How does the synthesizing of one compound using 2 compounds work?

I am very interested in chemistry as a profession so I have been giving myself thought experiments. I have a compound that is chemically similar to another compound. How would you go about combining compounds to achieve the end result. I know there is more to it then just mix them, below are the compounds in question written out as best I can.

C9H17NO2 --> C8H4O2 = C17H21NO4

Gabapentin --> 1,2-Pentalenedione = Cocaine

From my admitted lack of knowledge to me this would seem possible, can you please enlighten me on the factors I am missing.

Completely impossible.  You might want to learn some organic chemistry and then take a look at this article:

There are some serious legal implications here to answering this.   Sounds like more interested in the final compound than chemistry.

Gaba requires a script, ie, FDA controlled.

Stick to A + B = C...or C + D

I think we're all thinking that.  well said.

You must be kidding. Cole Graeber appears to know nothing about organic chemistry, and I'm not offering lessons.
