As you may recall the federal government is currently operating on a continuing resolution, meaning its day-to-day program funding is at the same level as fiscal year (FY) 2008. Congress failed to approved the FY 2009 spending by the beginning of the fiscal year last October 1, so it was forced to place the government under a continuing resolution until March 6, 2009.
Congress is now preparing to pass the FY 2009 spending bills as one catch all bill. And, the initial report coming from the House of Representatives indicates that it will be a good year for science. If you would like to contact your members of Congress on this issue you can do so here.
Do you think too much money is now being spent on science programs?
