Does any one have recommended reading on diversity?
There was an interesting article on the history of women chemists in Great Britian in the March 2009 issue of Chemistry Week. The text, which summarizes the book "Chemistry was Their Life": Pioneering British Women Chemists by Marelene Rayner-Canham and Geoff Rayner Canham, describes the struggles of women chemists from 1880-1949. The contributions of some enlightened men chemists to gain admission for women to the (predecessors of) the RSC is described. Brief mentions are made about women in other countries.
