      Dear 2011 AEI Candidate,

We have been experimenting with our colleagues in ACS Careers with the idea of taking the AEI poster session online through the ACS Virtual Career Fair, in addition to the onsite poster session at SciMix. We are at a stage where we can offer you the option of presenting yourself online during the ACS Virtual Career Fair in a special Virtual AEI Booth! We feel that this will give you an additional and excellent opportunity to showcase your research and teaching skills, even to academic recruiters that will not be attending the national meeting in Denver!

If you are interested in participating in the Virtual AEI session, here are the important dates, times and deadlines:

Thursday, July 28, 2011 (deadline)–Register your intention to participate here. Once you register, we will upload the profile (including your biographical sketch) that you registered with for the AEI poster session to the Virtual AEI Booth, which will reside in the AEI section of the ACS Virtual Career Fair. Only registered academic recruiters and fellow AEI candidates will have access to the AEI section of the Virtual Career Fair.

Tuesday & Wednesday, August 23-24  –The ACS Virtual Career Fair “test site” will open to AEI candidates. You will be able to check and update your profile, test the “chat” function and upload any documents that you wish to share with recruiters that visit your profile (please note that other AEI candidates will also be able to view your profile and any documents that you decide to upload). It is highly recommended that you convert your poster into a Powerpoint slide presentation, convert this to a pdf file and then post that to your profile (you can also post this pdf file to your profile during the event, on August 30 – 31.

Tuesday & Wednesday, August 30-31, 9:00 AM - 7:00PM, –The ACS Virtual Career Fair will open to academic recruiters who will be able to access your booth to view your profile, read your biographical sketches or leave you a message.

Tuesday, August 30, 3:00PM - 5:00PM – “Live” Virtual AEI session. We encourage all AEI candidates and recruiters to be logged in to their accounts during this time, so that AEI recruiters and candidates can chat in real time.

Please feel free to contact GradEd@acs.org if you have any questions.

We sincerely hope that you will take this opportunity to showcase yourself to academic recruiters from across the country!
