    Nanopores for sequencing - what if and what else?

      Here are some points to initiate a discussion and see what's on people's minds:

       

      I've been thinking lately about the potential of nanopores for sequencing (as described in the article below).

      There is a huge effort to string nucleic acids through pores. How would this change the game of sequencing? Is it really just a matter of cost?

       

      And (not to be pessimistic) if it doesn't pan out, what else are nanopores good for?
