Science & Human Rights Webinar Series: Chemistry, Human Rights, and Health (Wednesday, April 18, 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT)

Join us, on Wednesday, April 18, 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT, to learn more about the central role chemistry plays in the advancement of health as a human right, and the opportunities our science creates in the treatment of illness via access to quality medicines, nutritious food, safe water, and sanitation.  The right to health is connected to other rights, such as food, housing, education, and safe working conditions, and the exploration of this topic is essential in the promotion of other basic human rights provided for in numerous international treaties and declarations.

Webinar attendees will learn:

  • Chemistry’s role in advancing human rights;
  • Current realities, needs, and other creative approaches used to address health issues across the globe;
  • Healthcare issues in Africa, particularly the experience of the ACS Global Research Experiences, Exchanges, and Training (GREET) team that taught green chemistry practices enabling local manufacture, evaluation, and distribution of anti-malarial medicines in Tanzania;
  • And much more…

The International Activities Committee is hosting this webinar in an effort to engage a broader audience of chemical professionals in the topics of human rights and health. Register now!
