When I became PR Chair for the local section of Northeast Tennessee (NETSACS), I had no idea how to write a press release that "pops" or how to communicate with the ever-busy media.  I have jumped in and hung on, but am excited to learn how to do these and other promotional activities more effectively.  It seems that scientists have their world while media types have theirs, so I find it interesting in finding ways to meld the two together.  One of the most important things we can do is positively promote science in the community, and I look forward to being better at it!
