When an "oil" absorbs into human skin, what is happening?

Question asked by smpolisetti on Jun 1, 2014

When you put an oil onto your skin and it becomes absorbs, what exactly is absorbed by the skin?

I know oil doesn't have a pH unless the "acid" components dissociate from the oil. When the oil is on your skin, do these compounds dissociate? Can the pH of these components have an effect on the pH of your skin?
