Stain Removal

Question asked by Alexis Ferrara on May 5, 2015

Hi! My name is Alexis and I am a junior at Brewster High School. In chemistry I am conducting an experiment in order to find out how a berry stain can be removed from polyester. While conducting my research I stumbled upon a question that I was hoping you would be able to answer. I know that polyester is a polar molecule, while berry is a slightly polar molecule. Since "like" dissolves "like", would it be more effective to use a slightly polar or a polar molecule to remove this berry stain? Thank you so much for your anticipated assistance!

Sincerely,

Alexis
