Entering a PhD Program in Chemistry - How to prepare for the qualifying examinations?

Hi everyone!

Here is especially for PhD students who will take (or took) qualifying examinations: you may help me.

Next Fall I will enter the PhD Program in Chemistry of the City University of New York. Upon arrival, I will take qualifying examinations in each of the following three subjects: Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry - Quantum, and Inorganic Chemistry. It will consist of a multiple choice examination (ACS format). An A grade in the qualifying exam will permit me to be exempted from any first level course so long as it is not my chosen sub-discipline.

Does anyone know where I can find valuable material to prepare these exams?

Is any sample of qualifying examinations from past years available?

Thank you so much for your help.

Guillaume
