Regional meetings: A key value of ACS

Discussion created by Donivan Porterfield on Jul 17, 2016

Much thanks for the ACS Comment focused on the value of ACS regional meetings to our members.  One concern that I'm seeing in my interactions is that historically we've seen the academic community as an important resource in organizing and supporting ACS regional meetings.  However, as state support of our public colleges and universities has becomes a smaller percentage of their overall funding stream I think support of such activities as ACS regional meetings and other similar conferences / meetings is not seen as important by college / university administration.

I think this and other challenges will require that more teaming within and between hosting local sections in the organization of our ACS regional meetings.
