The Wilson Dam Section of the ACS was established in 1937 with the purpose of encouraging the advancement of chemistry in all of its branches; improving the qualifications and usefulness of chemical professionals through high standards of ethics, education, and attainments; promoting educational programs which further growth and development in chemistry; and promoting scientific interests and inquiry by its meetings, exhibitions, lectures, discussions, publications, and professional contacts.
The 2025 NAWD Chemistry Research Symposium was held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s Shelby Center for Science and Technology on Thursday, April 17th. Thirty-five undergraduate and graduate students from four universities in Alabama and Tennessee presented posters on their chemistry research. We would like to recognize and thank all the students for their hard work and dedication to research, and extend our congratulations to this year’s award recipients.

We are excited to announce the 2025 Chemistry Research Symposium co-hosted by the North Alabama & Wilson Dam Local Sections of the American Chemical Society. The symposium will be held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on April 17th from 3-5 pm. We encourage all undergraduate and graduate students interested in presenting a chemistry-related research poster to submit their abstract by March 31 for full consideration.
