Graphics
Avoid cute graphics for links that leave the user guessing where to click.
Graphics are important but not as important as the content. A nice design that attracts people is always desirable, but it should not overwhelm users.
Do not use blinking graphics or revolving globes to get attention. They are annoying and have the opposite effect.
Big, bold color buttons (Register, or subscribe, etc) aren’t persuasive. It is the value of the content that will convince people to take action.
