Do I need to be a member to join the ACS Network?
No, the ACS Network is open to the chemical community in general. The only requirement is that you create an ACS ID, i.e. an account with which you will log in to the Network.
I am logged into www.acs.org, but when I go to the Network, it say Log in. What should I do?
The first thing to do is to click on Log in, which triggers the system to check to verify that you have an active session. If you do, your profile photo or avatar should appear in the upper right hand of the page.
If you are certain that you are logged in on www.acs.org and the Network is not recognizing your account, the ACS Network and the ACS member database may have fallen out of sync. The best way to handle this situation is to go to www.acs.org and edit your ACS record via MyAccount. Change your email address, your postal address, or your opt-in status. Save the record, wait a minute or so, then return and correct your information. Make sure you have selected to opt into the ACS Network. This should force the correct information to be sent to the Network and you should be recognized when you go the ACS Network. (See Logging In - What to do if the ACS Network doesn't recognize you for explicit screenshots on this process.)
For other help with your ACS ID (login credentials), go to the help page on www.acs.org.
How do I change my password (or my email address)?
Your password and email address for the ACS Network are part of a single record of information used to manage all your interactions with the ACS. The easiest way to change your password or email address is to go to www.acs.org and edit your account there through the My Account link which appears when you click on your name in the upper right.
Where do I find my groups?
A group is a "container" that holds content. On the Network, all of these containers are referred to as "Places". You can find a link to Your Places in the personal user menu. This appears when you click on your profile photo or avatar in the upper right hand of the page.
You may also access it through "Browse" in the main navigation. You can filter through the groups you own or that you belong to in the left hand side bar.
Where do I find my draft blog post or any draft content?
Go to the main navigation and select Browse, then the type of content you are seeking. If you are logged in, "Drafts" should appear in the left hand navigation.
I was invited to an ACS Group, but when I go to that group it says that I am not authorized. How do I access this group?
The Network checks the email address that is associated with your profile to match it with the one to which the invitation was sent. If these are different, i.e. if you have multiple email addresses, you may have received an invitation at one address but your ACS Network profile is using another and the system does not recognize you. You can either change your email address or have the user who invited you to send you an invitation to the email address associated with your Network profile.
I want to reply to a discussion or vote in a poll but don't see any options to do so.
Make sure that you are logged in -- your profile photo or avatar should appear in the upper right hand of the page. If it says "Log in" then you need to do so. Users must be logged in to add, change, edit content, and access any groups which are not open.
