Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering Division
Welcome to the Division of Polymeric Materials on the American Chemical Society's Network. This is the place to find any information regarding events, news, and content related to Polymeric Materials.
Dear Colleagues, We're thrilled to announce that the deadline for abstract submissions for the upcoming Virtual Polymer Physics Symposium (VPPS), hosted by Early Career Researchers in Polymer Physics and sponsored by the American Physical Society DPOLY, has been extended to July 21st (Submit abstract). We are accepting abstracts from graduate students and postdocs. VPPS allows researchers to present cutting-edge work in polymer physics to an engaged, international audience. The symposium, taking place August 7th-8th on Spatial Chat (see below .gif for an example), features two types of submissions: technical talk abstracts and table-of-contents-style poster abstracts. Technical Talks: These sessions prioritize first-time presenters or early career researchers (ECRs) who were unable to attend conferences in 2023 due to visa/funding constraints. However, all graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to submit abstracts on broad interest topics in polymer science. This is a prime opportunity to share your latest research, receive feedback from esteemed colleagues, and further the field of polymer physics. Table-of-Contents-Style Poster Competition: This unique competition invites graduate students and postdocs to submit TOC graphics that serve as visual introductions to their research. In contrast to conventional posters, these TOC graphics should be rich in visuals with minimal text, essentially narrating your research story through engaging schematics. The competition has cash prizes up to $100 for the top three submissions, making this a rewarding opportunity to showcase your innovative work. For more information on ToC posters, visit https://sites.google.com/view/polymerphysics/toc-instructions Don't miss out on the chance to participate in this must-attend symposium for anyone intrigued by the latest advancements in polymer physics. You'll have the chance to engage with distinguished career panelists, participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion discussions, and join networking sessions. The symposium promises to be a potent blend of academic exchange, career development, and community-building. Please visit the symposium's webpage for more details, registration, and abstract submission: https://sites.google.com/view/polymerphysics/vppsymposium-2023 For any further questions or inquiries, do not hesitate to reach out at polymerphysicsslack@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing your submissions and hosting you at the symposium! Join us for the 3rd installment of the Virtual Polymer Physics Symposium, taking place on August 7th - 8th, 2023 on the virtual platform Spatial Chat! Organized by Early Career Researchers in Polymer Physics and sponsored by the American Physical Society Division of Polymer Physics (APS DPOLY), this event is a must-attend for anyone interested in the latest advancements in polymer physics. With priority given to outstanding submissions from first time presenters or ECRs who couldn't attend APS March 2023 meeting due to visa/funding constraints, the symposium will feature four technical sessions with talks from graduate students and postdocs on topics of broad interest in polymer science. Plus, there's a table-of-contents-style poster competition, a DEI panel, networking sessions and a career panel with a mixture of scientists from Industry, Academia and Government. Abstract submissions on polymer science topics by grads/postdocs can be made by following this link https://form.jotform.com/231314009379150 by July 15th. Don't miss this opportunity to share your work and connect with fellow researchers with the added bonus of awards for the poster competition! Thank you to our generous sponsors, the American Physical Society Division of Polymer Physics, for their support in making this event possible. We couldn't do it without them. Submit your talk and/or poster abstract and mark your calendar for August 7th - 8th, 2023. We look forward to seeing you at the Virtual Polymer Physics Symposium! Hey Guys, I'm currently working on a project that I hope many of you would find interesting or would be inclined to help me understand a bit more into the scope of such a project. I'm trying to work on an adhesive or a small bead or capsule that can adhere to surfaces that have a mixture of oil/water (such as the scalp). I'm sure it's possible to make an adhesive like this, however I'm asking all the material scientists to help me out! If you're interested please message me and I can share more details of the project's prototype! Regards, Nicholas
