2004 Section Meetings

 

February 16th, 2004, "Coal refining: A new technology utilizing our most abundant fuel," Dr. E. Gerald Meyer, University of Wyoming. Location: Famous Murphys Restaurant, 3127 S. Virginia St., Reno, 6:00 pm.

March 10, 2004, Regional Science Fair. Location: Lawlor Events Center, University of Nevada, Reno, 6:00 pm. NOTE: WE ARE LOOKING FOR JUDGES FOR CHEMISTRY PROJECTS. Contact Cinzia Muzzi (cmuzzi@scs.unr.edu), if interested.

April 21, 2004, "Meteorites: Messengers from time and space," Dr. Carleton B. Moore, Arizona State University. Location: Yen Ching Restaurant, 565 W. Moana St., Reno, 6:00 pm.

May 20, 2004, High School Awards Ceremony, featuring Dr. Jonathan Price, Director/State Geologist, Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. Price will be speaking about the "Chemistry of Odd Rocks: Who Cares?" The ceremony will be held on the UNR campus, in the Schulich Lecture Hall, room 1, at 5:30 pm.

October 25, 2004, "Astrochemistry: The evolution of organic molecules in interstellar clouds," Dr. Yorke E. Rhodes, New York University. Location: Yen Ching Restaurant, 565 W. Moana St., Reno, 6:00 pm. 

December 3, 2004, Sierra Nevada Section Annual Winetasting. Time and place: TBA.
