The Senior Chemists Committee (SCC) serves ACS members over the age of 50. Our mission is to address and support the needs and ambitions of senior chemists and to utilize their experience and knowledge for chemists of all ages. The SCC ACS Network provides a platform for communications between ACS members on topics of interest to senior chemists. Anybody can post or comment. If you have a question for senior chemists, post it in the Forum. Announcements and opinions are best posted in the Blog. If you want to share documents or links, choose the Knowledge Base. The Women Chemists Committee Group serves as a forum for women in chemistry and related professions; to develop recommendations regarding issues of interest to women chemists; to provide a means of increasing and improving participation of women in the chemical sciences and the Society; to promote the recognition of women chemists; and to inform the Council and other appropriate Society bodies of the Committee’s activities.. We are a coalition of American Chemical Society chemists who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,transgender, queer, or straight allies of LGBTQ+ people. We advocate diversity inclusion and serve as role models for LGBTQ+ people in the chemical professions. A place for students and teachers to share resources, ask and answer questions, comment on annotated solutions for past exams, and otherwise help students prepare for the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad

On Nov. 23, President Barack Obama announced the establishment of National Lab Day, an effort supported by ACS and more than 200 other organizations representing more than 6.5 million science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals. The first National Lab Day is tentatively set for early May 2010 and will be part of a large, ongoing STEM initiative called "Educate to Innovate." I invite you to join me and other ACS members in providing high quality, hands-on, discovery-based lab experiences to middle and high school students in our local communities.
