More chemiluminescence

Andres Tretiakov

Chemiluminescence is the release of light but no or very little heat energy by a chemical reaction. The oxidation of luminol by hydrogen peroxide in alkaline conditions produces a magnificent blue ''cold light''. It is the basis of how light sticks work.

The flask at the bottom changes colour because a small amount of the sodium fluorescein salt was added beforehand.
