This is an addendum to my post yesterday. I have done research in this area which other scientists may not have done. Above 50Celsius sodium cyanide reacts with 2 moles of water to give ammonia and sodium formate. So you must get rid of water and methanol with rotary evaporator and keep the water bath temperature at 49C or below! The best plan is to use good vacuum pump protected with dry ice/acetone cold trap!
