Mechanisms and Thermochemistry of Reactions of SiO and Si2O2 with OH and H2O

Good evening,

I am writing because I am interested in the article "Mechanisms and Thermochemistry of Reactions of SiO and Si2O2 with OH and H2O".

In this article is a graphic that demonstrates a Comparison of DFT Energies to Benchmark CCSD(T) Energies for Reaction Energies for the Formation of Si2O2, Si2O3, and Si2O4 From SiO and SiO2 Reactants.

So it says that the energy for the formation is round about -400KJ/mol when SiO2 + SiO2 reacts to Si2O4. Under what circumstances is such reaction even possible, because under normal pressure und temperature SiO2 und SiO2 does not react to anything. So is this reaction even possible?

The link to the website is: Mechanisms and Thermochemistry of Reactions of SiO and Si2O2 with OH and H2O | The Journal of Physic...

And i have the information from the table 4.

I hope you have an wonderful evening,

Moritz
