Many years ago, I watched an episode of Johnny Carson. On the show, they had a guy who mixed a compound with ordinary table sugar and added a drop of water and it burst into flames. I was a teenager at the time and went right down to the local chemical supply and bought a small bottle of this compound and we had the best time making sugar burn with a drop of water. If confined, it was rather explosive.
I seem to remember the compound was a 'trioxide' - with an O^3 at the end but not sure of this. I think it was a sodium or potassium compound but not sure about that either??? Anyone know this neat little trick? The compound was white colored granules that were larger than sugar granules. I think we mixed it 50-50.
