I actually considered going for Chemical Engineering, but the University that I am going to doesn't offer that as a major. They did have a 3-2 program (three years there and two at another school) but after talking to my adviser, I decided to just go for straight Chemistry. I was not positive that CE was what I wanted to do, and if I do want to do that I can go for a Master's in Chemical Engineering, although I would probably have to take a few engineering classes for a basis.
Chem Engineering is a great field. Too bad your university does not offer it. A few of my friends are going for pure chemistry. Most engineers have their masters degree so I think that would not be a problem but you might have to take those intro engineering courses which are not so bad. Personally, physics is alright but I do enjoy chemistry a lot more.
