Although no formal reception for LGBT people happens at the spring ACS national meetings, there are some activities you all might be interested in, as follows:

Friday March 23, 1-4 pm:

Open meeting of the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, Marriott Marquis Marina Hotel, Mission Hills Room. This is an opportunity for LGBT chemists to raise questions, concerns, solutions, and visibility to a fairly new committee that is trying to address D&I for all

people, including LGBT.

Sunday March 25, 5:30-7:30 pm:

ACS Diversity Reception, San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, San Diego Ballroom Salon C

This is probably oriented to women and minorities, but if LGBT-folk show up, we will be part of the party.

Monday March 26, 6pm:

LGBT Chemists and Allies go OUT on the town, Sevilla Restaurant and Tapas Bar, 353 Fifth Ave, San Diego CA

Join us for an informal gathering for networking and dining.  Here is a menu so you know what to expect and how much money to bring: http://www.cafesevilla.com/locs/sanDiego/index.htmlhttp://www.cafesevilla.com/sanDiego/restaurant/    It might be a good idea to let the organizer know you are coming, just so the restaurant can be ready for everyone.  The organizer is 2012 PROF Subdivision for Gay and Transgender Chemists and Allies Chair Larry Wagner: LWagner10-at-verizon-dot-net

Tuesday March 27, during the PROF Mentoring for Success Session, 1:30-4:50pm, San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, Del Mar room

“Mentoring LGBT people in STEM” , presented by Barbara Belmont, 3:15 pm to 3:45pm

This session is generally about mentoring. Barbara's presentation is the only one about LGBT .
