Fall 2016 Philadephia ACS meeting: Councilor's Corner and Summary of Governance Issues and Actions
Dear Maine Local Section Colleagues,
Greetings from Philadelphia. The meeting was well attended and there were lots of interesting scientific presentations and important Council actions included a significant discussion to comment about the ACS Presidential Task Force on the U.S. Employment of Chemists. Click here for a summary of the Governance Issues and Actions.
I continue to serve on the Committee on Committees (ConC). We are currently conducting a survey to gain information on the level of diversity present on all national committees (approximately 680 ACS members, associates, and consultants). We were very happy to report that our participation rate was already about 70%. The survey continues to be open until early September. ConC has also started working towards the ACS Leadership Development Conference, to be held next January, where we will be running a New ACS Chair's track at the conference.
We will be holding our local section election this fall. We welcome suggestions for anyone who wants to be considered. The list of positions open will be communicated in the next several weeks.
