Would you like to start a "Senior Chemists" group or committee for your Local Section? Would you like to plan special events for Senior Chemists? If so, attached is a "Senior Chemists Group & Activity Starter Kit" that may be of help to you. This information has been prepared by the ACS Senior Chemists Committee (SCC). One of SCC's strategic goals focuses on ways to help Local Sections form senior chemists groups and sponsor events to increase engagement of senior chemists. SCC encourages Local Sections to plan innovative activities that will benefit the local community, schools, or legislative government. The starter kit includes information on the role of senior chemists, success stories from Local Section Senior Chemists Committees, program ideas, steps for successful programming and funding, and important resources.

In March, SCC will announce its mini-grant program which was established to provide assistance for Local Sections in this regard. Last year, 10 Local Sections were awarded mini-grants by SCC. When the announcement is released, please be sure to apply by July 15, 2017. Grant funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A summary report of the senior chemists group or event will be required.
