Is it possible to chemically separate gold or silver coatings from utensils made of different base metals (like steel, brass, etc.) without causing the gold or silver to vaporize or be irreversibly damaged? If separation is feasible, what methods or chemicals could be employed?
Just for example let's say the Gold or Silver coating is 1 micron.
