Hallo,
I'm a photographer working with photogravure and am looking for a suitable replacement for dichromium salts to cause UV photo-polymerization or hardening of a thin layer of gelatin to be used as a etching resist.
I have previously used 4,4′-Diazostilbene-2,2′-disulfonic acid disodium salt, but the availability of this compound is very low. I am currently working with the Fenton Reaction of Ferric (III) Ammonium Citrate and Hydrogen Peroxide.
I'm curious if there are any Benzoin compounds that can be used in polymerization of gelatin, or if there are any other readily available and relatively non-toxic compounds that might have the ability to polymerize or harden gelatin upon exposure to UV light.
