Pyrolysis Recycling of Post-Consumer Use Plastic Waste
for Circular Economy Implementation in Developing Regions

Combating the environmental crisis caused by mismanaged plastic waste is a global challenge, especially in developing regions due to a lack of recycling availability and waste management infrastructure. One way communities can combat this challenge is by using the process of slow pyrolysis to convert plastic waste into liquid fuel. This talk will present a novel project started by the US based NGO Empowered Solutions for Environmental Sustainability to enable micro-entrepreneurs to start waste to energy businesses in developing countries. Results from a case study in Uganda will be included.
