Diversity Postdoc Position at University of San Diego

A unique diversity postdoctoral position is open at the University of San Diego (https://www.sandiego.edu/cas/about/post-doctoral.php, and attached advertisement), and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at USD is soliciting applicants for this two year position.  The University of San Diego is a Predominantly Undergraduate Institution and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers a BA degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Research efforts in the department are focused on engaging undergraduate students in an authentic research experience. 
The successful postdoctoral fellow applicant will have a commitment to advance the perspectives of African Americans through teaching opportunities, research/creative work, and mentoring. A post-doc in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will work with one or more faculty mentors in developing an effective and engaging teaching style and philosophy, cutting-edge research that includes mentoring of undergraduate research students, and engagement in the department, college, and university.  Areas of emphasis include biochemistry, organic synthesis, analytical & materials chemistry.  A typical course load for this position is approximately 2 classes per year and includes the opportunity to be mentored to teach lecture and lab sections as the instructor of record.  This position also includes additional support of professional development.  Past postdoctoral scholars in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at USD have gone on to tenure-track academic positions at a variety of institutions such as CSULB, Harvey Mudd, and University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Interested applicants can contact potential mentors directly for additional information about research directions. Applications are due February 1, 2021.  See https://jobs.sandiego.edu/cw/en-us/job/494197/diversity-postdoctoral-faculty for additional details.
