The correct determination of NO2 can best be accomplished by simultaneous measurement of ozone, and by using photolytic conversion as the means of detecting only NO2. The photo stationary equilibrium, which describes the formation of ozone, the photolytic conversion of NO2 and the reaction of NO and ozone must be considered for any accurate determination of NO2 levels in the atmosphere.
