Colorado Local Section Science Cafe

Blog Post created by Laura Melohn on Sep 8, 2010

The Colorado Local Section partnered with Denver Cafe Scientifique to hold the science café “Cooking Meth with Kids in the House: The Dark Side of Chemistry” at the in the Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver.  The speaker, Dr. John Martyny, presented an overview of his work which lasted about 30 minutes. After a 10 minute break, guests asked questions for about an hour.

The café was held in a meeting room that seated ca. 250; the café had approximately 150 attendees.  The Local Section used the café funds to buy snacks for the attendees at the café. Guests also had access to a cash bar in the meeting room during the event. The Colorado Section was given an opportunity to distribute literature about membership and upcoming events. Most of the participants were not members, and it is hoped that this café will serve as a member recruiting tool this year and in the future.

Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Thank you to the Colorado Local Section for providing the summary of the event.
