Several years ago I bought some organic filtered flax seed oil to use for seasoning cast iron in the oven. And I did store it in the refrigerator tightly covered. I tasted it today and it is VERY rancid. I was going to throw it away, which I probably will, but since I’m using it to build up a seasoning and not for actually eating, would it still work for that? Or has the “chemical structure” changed and it won’t work for seasoning.? It’s sort of expensive so I’d rather not toss it. Thanks for the help.
