Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy has many different titles.  Some of these titles include wife, mother, entrepreneur, academic, and an American Chemical Society (ACS) member.  However, let’s not forget her most recent title, President of Shaw University.  This makes Dubroy the third woman to lead Shaw University, and its second youngest in Shaw University’s 150 year history.  This is also impressive considering the fact that she is a Shaw University alumnus, earning a B.S. in Chemistry.  Once Dubroy graduated from Shaw University, she went on to further her education at North Carolina State University in 2007 where she earned her PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry.  In 2010, she attended Rutgers University to receive her MBA in Marketing.  According to the Board of Trustees Chairman Joe Bell, “All different points in history, different types of leaders are needed, and for Shaw, this is the time for someone with a solid business background. An entrepreneur.  A solid academic.  Dr. Dubroy is all that and more.”

Dubroy’s career began when she started working at BASF Corporation.  Upon leaving the BASF she returned to Shaw University, serving as the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Natural Sciences & Math Department.  She then went on to be the special assistant to the President for Process Optimization.  If all of this wasn’t impressive enough, she is the Chief Operations-Officer of Tea and Honey Blends, a natural hair care product company, and the co-owner of Element Beauty Bar, a hair salon located in Raleigh, North Carolina.  It’s apparent that she holds value to helping out and giving back to the community.  Dubroy has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity International, and is the co-founder of a non-profit organization called The Brilliant &Beautiful Foundation, to mentor female scientists.

On July, 9, 2015 from 2-3 pm ET, Dubroy will be hosting an ACS business and entrepreneurship webinar “The Entrepreneurial Chemist-Bridging the Bench and the Boardroom”. With her credentials and experiences, she has plenty of knowledge and wisdom to share about transitioning careers, marketing, operational sustainability, and being a woman that strives for success.
