The Southwest Georgia Local Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is sponsoring an illustrated poem contest for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Write and illustrate a poem using the NCW theme on Medicinal Chemistry: “The Healing Power of Chemistry.”
Contest Deadline: Friday October 20, 2023
Prizes: $50 in each category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grades)
Clarice Phelps, a scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee will talk with students and faculty at Valdosta State University at their Chemistry Mentoring Luncheon on Friday September 23, 2022. Clarice Phelps has been recognized as the first African-American women involved in the discovery of a chemical element. Go science!
