What is the mechanism for cell growth inhibition in organo-sulphur compounds used in biocides

Question asked by Jeanie Beales on Sep 3, 2014

I am researching an article for a magazine dealing with specialized chemicals and need some answers from organic chemists on the actual mechanism for cell growth inhibition in organo-sulphur compounds used in biocides. This could cover various applications - in water cooling systems, forestry/milling, pesticides, medicine, the leather tanning industry, etc.

I would really appreciate the input from professionals in this field.

I am a writer - not an organic chemist - so am reaching out for help here.
